Situated in Northeast Minneapolis, Logan Park sits at the center of its namesake neighborhood. Established back in 1883, it holds the distinction of being among the first green spaces acquired by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Located at 690 13th Avenue NE, this historic park has been bringing the community together for well over a century.

The spacious sports fields accommodate everything from football and baseball to softball and soccer matches. If court sports are more your style, the tennis and basketball courts are available for use. We particularly appreciate the thoughtful design of the basketball area, which features two half courts with different hoop heights - ideal for both kids still developing their skills and adults looking for a pickup game.

Families with young children will find the park especially welcoming. The recently updated tot lot gives toddlers a safe place to explore, while older kids can challenge themselves on the separate playground. When summer temperatures climb, the zero-depth entry wading pool with jets (renovated in 2019) becomes the neighborhood's favorite cooling spot.

When winter blankets Minneapolis, Logan Park transforms into a cold-weather playground with three ice rinks - one each for casual skating, hockey, and broomball. You'll often find a warming house open and free loaner skates available, making it accessible even if you don't own equipment.

For more relaxed outings, grab a book from the Little Free Library or take a peaceful walk along the park's paths. The picnic areas offer both tables and open spaces for blankets, plus BBQ grills for impromptu cookouts. Chess enthusiasts will appreciate the tables with built-in chess boards - just bring your pieces and enjoy a game in the fresh air. Clean outdoor restrooms make it convenient to spend the whole day here.

Community Connection

The recreation center keeps the park buzzing with activity year-round. Parents with little ones should note the open gym for toddlers that runs Mondays and Fridays from 10am to 12pm during fall and winter. These sessions often include special programs that introduce children to nature, animals, and other educational topics.

The center also provides free snacks for children on weekdays and occasionally hosts early childhood resource personnel who can connect families with community services. Inside, you'll find everything from arts and crafts to board games and gymnasium sports suitable for all ages.

A Living Legacy

Logan Park's story continues to unfold while honoring its past. In the early 1900s, it proudly hosted Minneapolis's first fieldhouse. Today, community traditions like Arbor Day celebrations bring neighbors together to plant trees and enjoy live entertainment.
