About Park Siding Park in Minneapolis
Park Siding Park is a small, 1.39-acre neighborhood park located in the Cedar-Isles-Dean community of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This tranquil green space offers a peaceful retreat for local residents.
The park's history dates back to June 4, 1919, when the original property of three acres was purchased from the Nelson Brothers Paving and Construction Company. Initially used as a construction yard and storage area for park board projects, it has since evolved into a cherished community space.
In 1997, Park Siding Park underwent a complete renovation, which earned it a design award from the Committee on Urban Environment. The renovation was partially financed by Cedar-Isles-Dean neighborhood revitalization funds. Further improvements were made in 2012, when the Cedar Isles Dean neighborhood funded new trees, redesigned garden beds with new irrigation systems, and the installation of two concrete outdoor table tennis tables.
Today, Park Siding Park is nestled on a dead-end street among modern townhouses, adjacent to a bicycle and pedestrian path. This location provides a quiet environment for visitors to enjoy the park's amenities and natural beauty. The park is open from 6 am to midnight, in accordance with Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board ordinances.
