About Tilles Park

A Tale of Two Tilles Parks

Before anything else, a heads-up that's worth knowing from the start: there are two parks in the St. Louis area that share the name Tilles Park, and they're managed by entirely separate government departments. This one - the city park at Hampton and Fyler - is run by the City of St. Louis Parks Division. The other, a 75-acre historic park on Litzsinger Road in Ladue, is run by St. Louis County Parks.

They honor the same person (Rosalie Peck Tilles, mother of philanthropist C. Andrew Tilles, who donated the original estate in 1932), but they're about 8 miles apart and offer very different experiences. It's easy to mix the two up, so always double-check your destination before heading out.

The county park on Litzsinger has a fishing pond, WPA-era stone shelters, and the popular Winter Wonderland holiday light show each December. This city park at Hampton and Fyler is the sports-focused one - and that's where you are now.

Park Overview

Situated in the North Hampton neighborhood of St. Louis, Tilles Park spreads across 29 acres of green space that's been a community fixture since 1957. Open daily from 6 AM to 10 PM, the park offers a mix of open fields, mature trees, and well-maintained grounds - ideal for those days when you just need to breathe in some fresh air.

Family-Friendly Features

Tilles Park works well for families looking to enjoy a day outdoors. It's a great spot for spreading out a picnic blanket, tossing a frisbee, or simply gathering with friends and neighbors. Kids will make a beeline for the playground, which offers plenty of climbing structures and slides suitable for various age groups - letting little ones burn off energy while developing their motor skills.

Own a local business? Promote it right here

When summer temperatures climb, the splash pad becomes the coolest spot in the park. It's ADA accessible and provides a fun place for kids to cool off. Just keep a close eye on younger children.

Four-legged family members are welcome too! Many locals bring their dogs for daily walks - remember that leashes are required across the park.

Sports and Recreation

This is where Tilles Park shines. The park features multiple softball fields, soccer fields, as well as courts for tennis, basketball, and - a local first - six pickleball courts, recognized as the first permanent multi-court pickleball facility in the St. Louis area when they were added in 2016-2017. There's also a skate hockey rink, and a soccer kick board for solo practice.
