A Glimpse into the Past

Nestled at the corner of 14th Avenue and Wilson Court in west Eugene, Berkeley Park spans a cozy 2.38 acres. This neighborhood haven has been around since 1949, with initial development in 1955 and generous land donations expanding it in the mid-1970s.

2022 marked a turning point for Berkeley Park when it underwent a major renovation, courtesy of the 2018 Parks and Recreation Bond and Levy. The transformation didn't just modernize the space - it completely reimagined it, creating a refreshed community space that locals enjoy.

A Playground Paradise

If you've got kids in tow, you're in luck. The park features a playground that caters to little ones of all ages. Active youngsters can burn energy on multiple climbing structures, zip down two slides, or take turns on the classic teeter-totter.

The sand play area is a particular highlight, featuring thoughtfully designed sand scoops (including one you can sit in while digging) and a nifty sand sifting station that keeps little hands busy for hours. Need to swing? Four swings await, including an accessible option that ensures children of all abilities can join the fun.

Beyond the Playground

Berkeley Park strikes that perfect balance between active recreation and peaceful green space. The basketball court invites friendly games, while open grassy areas provide room to toss a frisbee or simply sprawl out with a good book. Scattered picnic spots make it easy to extend your visit with an outdoor meal.

Paved paths wind across the park, well-suited for a leisurely stroll or a quick cut-through. There's even a pleasant trail connecting to the nearby national gymnastics center if you're up for exploring further. You'll find a drinking fountain on-site, however it's worth noting that water service can be hit-or-miss depending on the season.

Maintained by the City of Eugene's Parks and Open Space Division, the park has emerged from its recent renovation as a clean, well-kept space that locals appreciate. It offers a pleasant glimpse of nature on Eugene's west side where you can spend time outdoors, play, and meet neighbors.
