Riverside Escape

Tucked along the south side of the Willamette River in Eugene, Oregon, Maurie Jacobs Park stretches across 34.6 acres of riverside beauty. As part of Eugene's network of riverfront parks, this green oasis offers stunning river views and plenty of open space to spread out and enjoy the day.

The river access here is particularly lovely, with shallow areas where kids can safely splash around during those warm Oregon days. There's something incredibly peaceful about sitting by the water here, watching wildlife go about its day while the river gently flows by.

Room to Play

If you're looking for space to move, you'll come across it here. The large turf area is great for a game of soccer or ultimate frisbee. Whether you're organizing a proper match or just tossing a ball around, this expansive green space provides plenty of room.

Need a quick workout? Check out the small exercise area near the soccer field, equipped with calisthenics equipment for an outdoor fitness session. Of course, sometimes the best exercise is simply sprawling out on the grass with a good book or watching clouds drift by - and there's plenty of room for that too.

Kid-Friendly Zones

Two small playgrounds make this park a hit with families. The main playground sits within a comfortable plaza and offers all the classics: swings, a slide, and a sand play area complete with a sand table and digger (a recent addition that's been quite popular).

Parents appreciate that the playground is set back from the parking lot, adding an extra layer of safety for little ones. The blend of play equipment and natural surroundings creates an ideal backdrop for birthday celebrations and family gatherings.

Places to Pause

Throughout the park, you'll discover picnic tables and benches nestled under the canopy of large trees. These shaded spots are excellent for enjoying a packed lunch or simply sitting back to take in the scenery.

Clean restrooms are available until 11 PM daily - though they might occasionally benefit from a bit more attention, they're certainly convenient when you're spending the day outdoors.

Connected by Trails

Maurie Jacobs Park acts as a critical junction in Eugene's impressive path network. The Greenway Bridge spanning the Willamette River marks the zero mile marker for the Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path system.

This bridge elegantly connects the South and West Bank paths with the North and East Bank routes, making the park an essential link for people walking or cycling through Eugene. You can even use it to access Valley River Center mall on foot.

The paved paths extending from the park offer miles of riverside exploration in either direction. Lace up your walking shoes, hop on a bike, strap on some rollerblades - you can travel from here all the way to Alton Baker Park and beyond if you're feeling ambitious.

Natural Beauty

The Willamette River setting provides a stunning natural backdrop and plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching. Keep your eyes peeled for ducks, geese, and other river birds going about their business along the shoreline.

Even on hot summer days, the trees scattered across the park offer welcome patches of shade. During blooming season, the rose garden adds splashes of color and sweet fragrance to your visit.

Four-Legged Friends Welcome

Dog owners, rejoice - your furry companions are welcome here, but they'll need to stay on leash (them's the rules). The spacious grassy areas give pups plenty of room to explore, and during warmer months, many dogs enjoy cooling off in the shallow river areas.

Situated within the Whiteaker Community Council area in Eugene's West region, this park has become a cherished spot for locals and visitors alike. Beyond its natural appeal, the park occasionally hosts community gatherings and weekend live music, adding cultural flavor to its recreational offerings.
