About East Park
Historic Origins
Located in the heart of East Nashville, Tennessee, East Park is not only a patch of green in the urban landscape. Born from the ashes of the East Nashville fire of 1916, this 10-acre city block has transformed into a vibrant community space that's just a stone's throw from downtown Nashville. It's where locals catch their breath and visitors get a taste of authentic East Nashville life.
Modern Community Center
In 2006, the park got a major upgrade with a sleek new community center. This 33,000 square foot facility at the corner of Woodland and 6th Street South isn't just big - it's thoughtfully designed to honor its roots in the Edgefield Historic District while offering all the modern amenities you could ask for.
Recreational Amenities
Whether you're looking to break a sweat or just enjoy some fresh air, East Park offers several options. The playground is a hit with the little ones, while the baseball fields attract sports enthusiasts of all ages. The outdoor amphitheater adds a cultural touch, making it excellent for everything from casual picnics to organized community gatherings.
When summer heat hits Nashville, the swimming pool becomes the place to be. It's well-maintained by attentive staff who keep things running smoothly as families and friends cool off and make memories.
The green spaces throughout the park provide a nice break from city life, creating peaceful spots in the bustling East Nashville scene.
Picnic and Relaxation Areas
You'll come across plenty of shaded picnic areas scattered across the grounds - perfect spots to unfold a blanket, unpack a lunch, or simply sit with a good book. These well-kept areas provide a tranquil setting to connect with nature or loved ones without having to leave the city.
Dog-Friendly Features
Bring your four-legged friends along! The park includes a dedicated space where dogs can play freely, plus walking paths that are ideal for a leisurely stroll with your pup. These features make East Park welcoming for everyone in the community.
Community Events
Year-round, East Park hosts community celebrations, including the colorful Nashville Hot Chicken parade. These events highlight the park's role as both a recreational space and gathering place for East Nashville residents.
Part of Nashville's Green Vision
East Park is part of the city's Master Plan for Parks and Greenways, contributing to Nashville's network of outdoor spaces. The park's various facilities accommodate different interests, from fitness to art appreciation.
