About the Location
Park Overview
Situated in White Settlement, a quiet suburb of Fort Worth, Saddle Hills Park spreads across 28 acres of diverse terrain. This local park has been open since 1982 when it was built with grant funding. In 2009, the park got a refresh with some much-needed drainage improvements and the addition of an 18-hole disc golf course that's become quite the local attraction.
The northern section of the park has become a regular practice spot for youth sports teams. The park features a mix of wide-open grassy spaces and secluded wooded areas. The gentle hills and valleys throughout add a nice touch of character, especially for disc golfers navigating the course.
Natural Features
Small creeks meander through the park, adding a peaceful soundtrack to your visit. The landscape shifts between flat, easy-walking areas and rolling hills, creating a surprisingly varied experience for a suburban park.
Some sections have a rugged, canyon-like feel that gives you the sense of being somewhere far more remote than a city park. These less manicured areas are perfect if you're looking to connect with nature - and if you bring your dog along, they'll absolutely love exploring the different terrains.
Recreation Opportunities
The disc golf course is definitely the star attraction here. With 18 holes winding through both open and wooded areas, it offers enough challenge to keep experienced players engaged while still being accessible to newcomers. Best of all, it's completely free to play, which explains why you'll often spot disc golf enthusiasts practicing their throws.
Beyond disc golf, the park provides plenty of space for whatever outdoor activity suits your mood. You'll see locals walking, jogging, or simply enjoying a peaceful afternoon picnic under the Texas sky.
Amenities
Picnic tables are scattered throughout the grounds, making it easy to enjoy a casual outdoor meal or gather with friends. Note that there are no restroom facilities in the park, so plan accordingly before your visit.
The park is especially dog-friendly, with plenty of interesting paths and open areas for your four-legged friends to explore. Just be aware that parking is somewhat limited - if you're visiting during peak times, especially weekends with nice weather, you might want to arrive early to snag a spot.
