Park Overview

Tucked less than a mile south of Highway 66 in Garland, Texas, Embree Park spreads across 12.4 acres of developed land. This park has a variety of features - from play areas for the kids to peaceful trails for those seeking a moment of calm in their busy day. The mix of recreational facilities and green spaces attracts locals of all ages.

Trails & Walking Paths

Need to clear your head or get those steps in? The park's 0.5-mile paved trail loops around the perimeter, ideal for a quick jog or a thoughtful walk. As you make your way around, you'll pass the Gale Fields Recreation Center, home to a fitness room, gymnasium, and various meeting spaces.

The trail is popular with nearby residents - it's a convenient way to stay active close to home.

Water Features

The splash pad opened on July 13, 2023, and is particularly popular during summer. Open from May 15 through October 5, it's a wonderful spot for kiddos to cool down when Texas brings the heat.

Just a heads up - you won't find much shade around the splash pad. You'll want to bring sunblock, hats, and maybe a pop-up tent if you're planning to hang out while the little ones splash around.

Playground Area

The park's playground comes equipped with slides and swing sets that keep children entertained for hours. Like the splash pad, it's pretty exposed to the sun, so summer visits might be best planned for morning or evening hours.

What's nice is that the equipment caters to different age groups, so siblings can play together even if there's a few years between them.

Picnic & Recreation Spaces

Scattered throughout Embree Park are several picnic areas with tables, some nestled under the welcome shade of mature trees. The wide, open grassy spaces are meant for tossing a frisbee, kicking a soccer ball, or simply spreading out a blanket to enjoy an afternoon outdoors.

Dog owners also appreciate these open areas for giving their four-legged friends some exercise - just remember to keep them leashed as per local rules.

Recent Improvements

As of November 2023, Embree Park completed some meaningful updates as part of a bond project. One of the most practical additions? New restroom facilities conveniently located near where families spend most of their time - the playground and splash pad areas.

These renovations have given the park a fresh feel while making it more comfortable for everyone to spend a few hours enjoying the outdoors.

Facilities & Amenities

Sports enthusiasts can shoot some hoops at the basketball court or practice their swing at the backstops. The adjacent Gale Fields Recreation Center extends the park's offerings with indoor facilities that come in handy for community events or when the weather isn't cooperating.

While restrooms are available in the park, they sometimes get locked at certain hours. When this happens, you can use the facilities at the recreation center instead.

With 114 parking spaces, you'll usually find a spot without much trouble. On those extra busy weekends, the recreation center parking lot functions as a convenient overflow option.
