About the Location
Natural Oasis
Set on the banks of the Green River, this cozy .77-acre (0.31-hectare) green space is a little slice of tranquility in Kent's urban landscape. You can find this secluded place just off Frager Road in the southern part of town.
True to its name, Cottonwood Grove Park features a charming stand of cottonwood trees that create dappled shade on sunny days and provide a home for local wildlife. The park's riverside location makes it a wonderful spot for a bit of bird watching or simply sitting back and enjoying the peaceful sound of flowing water.
A Touch of History
The park has a somber historical note from March 1986, when it became linked to the Green River Killer case after remains of one of Gary Ridgway's victims were discovered in the area. While this event briefly brought attention to the park, today it exists as a quiet neighborhood retreat.
Local Treasure
Despite its modest size, this park offers something special for the community - a genuine connection to nature. It represents a small but meaningful window into the Green River ecosystem, right in the midst of Kent's urban setting.
