About Ballard Playground
Recreation Spot
Tucked between the Ballard Community Center and Adams Elementary School, Ballard Playground offers a breath of fresh air in Seattle's charming Ballard neighborhood. This community space isn't trying to be fancy - it's just a solid spot where locals can stretch their legs and enjoy some outdoor time.
The heart of the park is its multi-purpose playfield, where you'll likely spot everything from weekend soccer matches to casual games of baseball and softball. There's something refreshing about seeing this versatile green space transform based on what the community needs that day.
Kid-Friendly Zone
If you've got little ones in tow, the dedicated children's play area is where you'll want to head. It's nothing extravagant, but it has all the essentials for a fun afternoon outdoors.
Kids seem to gravitate toward the boat-themed climbing feature - a nod to Ballard's maritime heritage, perhaps? The playground rounds out with two slides, a climbing structure, and two swings (including one of those bucket swings that keeps babies from tumbling out). Several benches surround the area, excellent for parents who need a moment to catch their breath while keeping an eye on energetic kiddos. The low wall circling the playground doubles as an impromptu balance beam for adventurous little feet.
There's a water fountain right in the playground area - always handy when thirst strikes mid-play.

Practical Stuff
Scattered within the grounds are several picnic tables, making this a nice spot to enjoy a packed lunch or casual dinner when Seattle graces the city with good weather.
Need a bathroom break? You can access restroom facilities inside the Ballard Community Center when it's open.
One of the nicest things about this playground is how it connects to other community spaces, making it an easy addition to your day if you're already in the neighborhood for other activities. And yes, there's free parking at the south end of the playground - a small but significant perk in parking-challenged Seattle.
